How to play this role
Your word is close to the Civilians’ (“pool” instead of “beach”), but you don’t know it at first. Listen to the first clues: if they feel off, you are probably the impostor.
Once you have worked it out, the goal is to survive: stay in the game until only one Civilian is left. Your whole side then wins, even the infiltrators already eliminated.
Strategies and tips
- Give clues that work for both words: “water”, “summer”, “swimming” fit beach as well as pool.
- If you have guessed the Civilians’ word, use it: a precise clue about their word clears you.
- Accuse along with the others, but not first: following the crowd draws less attention.
- Listen closely to the first clues: if your word seems different, blend in with vague clues.

- No. They only know their own word and must guess the others’ from the clues.
- Can there be several impostors?
- Yes, up to 4 depending on the number of players. They all share the same word but don’t know each other.
